Swinney's Press Conference - Almost Undefeated

"Kyle Parker gives us the best chance to win right now. And I want to win right now. He gives us the best chance to win today. And there's no question about that."

I agree here.  As poor as Kyle Parker has played over the last few weeks, I still think #11 gives Clemson their best chance to win the football game against North Carolina State on Saturday and the following Saturday at Florida State.

"He walked away from almost $900,000 to be here."

Irrelevant.  This should have zero bearing on whether any team member plays or rides the pine.

"I knew there was going to be some transition in some areas, but I expected we’d be undefeated right now. and we almost are…"

Almost undefeated.  Laughable.  The team is 4-4.  We are as close to defeated and undefeated.  This sounds exactly like an old Tommy Bowden quote, which were equally as ridiculous and equally as nauseating.

"We have some intangibles that we don’t quite have right now that we’re addressing. And we’re confident in where we’re going."

This sort of sounds like South Carolina Miss Teen USA.  Therefor such as the Iraq....intangibles....US Americans....maps....I have know idea what message Swinney is trying to convey here.

"Ninety-five percent of Clemson fans are great. Five percent, Lord have mercy. I haven’t ever seen anything like it. ... There's always going to be that five percent that expects more from you than they’re willing to give. ... As soon as something doesn’t go the way they want, they turn and run and quit and cry and fire this coach and fire this player and all that kind of stuff. But that is a small percentage of the Clemson fans. Sometimes you have to coach your players on that a little bit."

  1. 5% my ass. William has no clue on how to coach nor does he have any clue how much people want him gone. GTFO Swinney, TDP, and Barker.

  2. Did any of you bother to listen to this press conference? Dabo is the man! Pulling select quotes out of a long speech like that, and sure, you can spun it any way you want.

    Several points:

    1. The man is a recruiiter. Ours is at an all time high. Have you read who we have commit? We will cruise to the ACC title with the class that's coming. Yea baby!

    2. He is so good at hyping the team and the fans. Look at all he has done here. The man went to the ACCCG in his first season after inheriting a mess!

    3. He is a fine family man, more than I can say for some who have coached here. Love him and his morales.

    4. He's brung a ton of attention to our school and done so in a positive light.

    5. The man is a winner. I would follow him anywhere, and this team will two. We will win our last four games, watch!!!

Dabo is catching some heat and should be. We should have not lost at BC. A bad loss. Happens to the best coaches. See Mac Brown and Urban Myers. But he will have the team hype and ready Saturday. I will be front and center when they run down thathill and unleesh hell on the pups!

    Go Tigers!

  3. Dabo: Over 50% of CU football fans want to fire you, NOT 5%.

  4. I wonder when will the third time Billy Chris will admonish the fans. Funny, Swinney has done nothing to justify his arrogance. With all that Ford accomplished, I don't know of any time where he came down on the fans.

You know who I really think gives Clemson the best chance to win? Gary Patterson.

  5. You 5% fans are nuts!!! yall need to play the x-box, then whatever team you play as...you can win the national championship every year, and if you happen to lose a game you can promply fire yourself!

  6. This blog is like the political campaign TV ads we have had to endure for the last several months.

You take a 40 minute press conference and extract bits and pieces of it, while adding things that were never said, so you can make someone look as stupid as possible to further your agenda.

The real quote is...."But I expected that we could be undefeated right now, I expected that we could beat anybody we played, and you know what we've been in position to do that, but we're just not quite where we need to be yet...."

I am very glad we have a coach who doesn't give up and believes our team can do great things and continues to work hard toward that goal.

This site is an embarrassment to Clemson University and in no way will ever positively effect Clemson's athletic programs.

  7. im a carolina fan.. dabo is right about some of the clemson fans. hes a great coach and has done alot with the program. seems to me like now is the time to support him, not scrutinize every little thing he might say under pressure. the man is only human.
