Billy D
However according to several sources Billy D who is currently Clemson Senior Associate AD for External Affairs has recently engaged in serious discussions with Coastal Carolina University about becoming their next Athletic Director. D'Andrea formally interviewed for the job on Saturday, October 10th over the bye week and D'Andrea was scheduled to meet with some big Coastal Carolina boosters yesterday evening to discuss details of the package on the table for him.
More to come as this situations develops.
No Way in hell is Billy D going to replace TDP. That would be more of a nightmare situation than the current one!
ReplyDeleteMB,
ReplyDeleteWe agree that hiring from with-in isn't the best alternative. CUAD needs new blood.
Any truth to the rumour that Danny Ford is in the running for AD?
ReplyDeleteI too think Clemson needs fresh blood. That said, I'd prefer to see Jeff Davis as AD, and quite frankly he'd probably be my first choice, but that's largely due to my lack of knowledge on a current, proven AD out there who would come to Clemson. Whether Jeff would even want the job, I dunno.
ReplyDeleteIf I wanted anyone, and I don't dislike TDP as much as most, I would be looking at the guy at Richmond
ReplyDeleteI do want someone with ties to the program. Here are a few names: Barbara Kennedy Dixon (my first choice), Jim Davis, Billy D would be okay, Cliff Ellis, Jim Stuckey.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Kyle Young? He's in the AD now as an assistant AD, Clemson guy, smart as hell. Little young and inexperienced but at least we know hes a Clemson guy who wants us to win and will be at events supporting the programs.
ReplyDeleteWhy would D'Andrea go to Coastal now when he could have had the ECU AD job 5 years ago? ECU and D'Andrea were starting to negotiate when Clemson stepped up with the Associate AD title and probably more coin.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, I think that Billy D is going to turn down the Coastal Carolina opportunity to stay at Clesmon.
ReplyDeleteJust passing along that Billy D interviewed and is strongly considering the position, but will likely stay at Clemson.
D'Andrea turned down the CCU opportunity.
